High complexity of payment processes

In general, the APIs of the individual payment service providers are different. Implementations of new PSPs in Webshop and Dynamics 365 Business Central each require a new project for you and your customer. The "happy cases" are usually implemented quickly, but it gets challenging with the complicated use cases. Getting the payment processes to work often requires a lot of "experimentation". The developers need a lot of experience. Experts in payment processes are rare and expensive.

Technical development

Dlls and .NET no longer work in the Business Central -SaaS world. New concepts must be found and provided as AL extensions: Existing payment solutions are often still CAL-based and have to be migrated to extensions (AL). This costs money, is complex and takes a long time. "Appification" becomes the standard in BC: Customers basically want to stay close to the standard and no longer make individual code adjustments.

Time delay and project risks

The project is very often delayed because of the payment processes. It is not about the so-called "happy cases", but for example about partial returns with different documents, delivery and ordering countries, or different currencies and tax rates. There is an acute risk of project delay and the customer relationship can be strained. If a retailer has massive problems with the payment processes after "go-live", this can lead to significant sales losses and negative reviews.
